cove to cove swimsuit
This knit swimsuit is inspired by a swim my family takes each summer, called the “Cove to Cove Swim.” I, however, have never attempted this swim due to the length and cold temperatures of the New England ocean. This garment is an attempt to connect myself to the swim, while still acknowledging the fact that I haven’t participated. The pattern on this swimsuit represents my nature of only going about waist deep into the ocean and the brightly colored swim cap mimics the matching swim caps my family wears during the swim.

strabismus sweater
This sweater was inspired by the strabismus surgery I had in the fall of 2015. According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, “Strabismus is a visual problem in which the eyes are not aligned properly and point in different directions. One eye may look straight ahead, while the other eye turns inward, outward, upward, or downward.” This sweater honors the journey my eyes and I have been on; the long right arm of the garment represents my right eye pre-surgery, loose, disorderly and hard to function with. The body of the garment represents the surgery and healing process. Finally, the short arm represents my right eye today, aligned and orderly.
