This rug was inspired by a watercolor study I made of the Massachusetts coast. On this day, the warm colors of the autumn leaves brought out the warmth of the beach rocks. These orange tones stood out beautifully against the blues of the ocean and sky. In creating this piece I wanted to capture the natural color shifts that occur as watercolor bleeds. I wanted this rug to feel like a faint memory of the beach, a faded blur of ocean, rocks, sand and sky.
